Childhood Favorites: The Simpsons: Hit and Run

I had The Simpsons: Hit and Run on PC when I was a kid. The funny story is that I actually took it from my brother once he finished the game. My brother is a couple years older than me so he was around the age to be playing a Teen rated game but I was 9!

This means that I learned how to say “Get off the road, Jackass!” before I could actually drive from playing this game! Luckily, I never repeated it until I was old enough to drive and understand that sometimes people just can’t drive!

This is a game I mostly remember fondly except for some difficult missions! It was fun, the dialogue was funny although did go over my head because I was 9 and this was more targeted for people who were fans of The Simpsons TV show which I was too young for!

Plot

Somethings weird is going on in Springfield surrounding a new drink called Buzz Cola. There are bee security cameras and strange trucks and it’s up to the Simpsons to figure out what is going on in their town!

Driving

There are different cars to drive in the game that are unlocked through missions, buying them with in-game currency, or finding secret cars in the different stages of the game!

Each car has different skills such as speed and handling. Cars can be repaired with wrenches throughout the stages or if they are destroyed they can be repaired by paying a fine.

There are cops in the game that are triggered by demolishing property or hitting people. There is a meter that builds up and if the meter goes red the cops will come after you! I remember the cops being hard to get away from in the game because they would drive fast and destroy your car and you would have to pay them a fine!

I also remember getting into trouble a lot because if you demolished property you would get coins! I was a ruthless child!

Levels

There are seven levels in the game and each level consists of different missions. The first level is the introduction to the game where you play as Homer hearing about Buzz Cola on TV. The second level is where you play as Bart in a different area of Springfield causing general mayhem. The third level involves Lisa in another area of Springfield trying to find Bart who has gone missing.

The fourth level takes place in the introduction area of the game where Bart has been found and Marge wants to know why her son appears to be brainwashed. The fifth level features Apu who is back to the second area in the game investigating Buzz Cola. The sixth level features Bart who is now normal investigating the area where Lisa was because he wants the world to know what’s going on with Buzz Cola. The final level is back to the first area in the game with Homer dealing with a town that is now been turned into a Halloween town on Halloween and is taking down Buzz Cola to save Springfield!

Favorite Moments

  • Interactions with characters like when Marge tells Homer he ate Lisa’s science project
  • Homer’s dialogue when you mess up driving: “Ow my ass!” “Get off the road, jackass!”
  • All of the music in the game
  • “S-M-R-T” mission where you had to race the principal to school
  • Racing mini games

Least Favorite Moments

  • “Monkey See Monkey D’oh” where you have to find all the monkeys before the timer runs out and it’s very difficult to do
  • Final mission which is a timed mission where you have to collect nuclear waste and drive to a spaceship

Fun Racing and Exploration Game

I loved this game as a kid and I mostly have fond memories of it despite some difficult missions! The game was funny and I enjoyed driving and causing mayhem in Springfield! I also enjoyed exploring the levels to collect coins and cards in the game! I remember replaying the game a few times and it’s one of my favorite games I played even though I was too young for it at the time!

Have you played The Simpsons: Hit and Run? What did you think of the game? What were some of your favorite childhood game?

OverThinker Y’s Thoughts on Skyrim’s Popularity

I first picked up Skyrim on the day it came out: November 11th, 2011. I remember ‘cos there was that super badass advert with the ‘huh, hoh, hwaaaaah‘, and at the end the 11-11-11 turned sideways and turned into SKYRIM and it was awesome. (Note, having gone and looked for that trailer: I may have […]

via The Enduring Success of Skyrim: All Things to All People? — OverThinker Y

Chris from OverThinker Y wrote about how Skyrim is successful and discusses how people play the game! Skyrim is a game that is extremely popular! When I started getting back into gaming in college, I kept hearing how I should play it. When I received the Switch and Skyrim was announced I decided it was finally time to try the game out!

As for how I am playing, I am actually playing it exactly how Chris first played it. I am attempting to do everything. That’s why it’s taking me so long to play the game because I go to towns and do all the side quests and I have barely even touched the main story!

I did some minor roleplaying with my character where I choose a name that sounded like it would be from the Khajiit, Do’ Aziraya. I did imagine her personality so I would know what choices to pick in quests. She is a warrior that does use stealth and she has a loving wife and family. I decided that she would fall in love with Aela after training to be a member of the Companions and that she adopted one child who she met on the streets and another child who was in an abusive orphanage.

Generally my character is chaotic good so she tends to try to make good decisions, but she can just be completely chaotic in both choices and combat.

Read the article here and let Chris know how you play Skyrim!

Things to Do in Ancient Greece: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

I have been playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on the PlayStation 4 and I love it! I am playing as Kassandra and I just finished the game on Tuesday! This post discusses some fun aspects of what you can do in the game in a fun travel guide post!

Romantic Getaway

Ancient Greece is very romantic and you are sure to find someone here! Kassandra has found plenty of people she loves in Greece and she does love being a romantic! Come find love in Greece!

Sightseeing

Ancient Greece is beautiful so enjoy the beautiful landscape and skies as you climb mountains to unlock fast travel. Hope you aren’t afraid of heights!

Although be sure not to anger the Spartans since Kassandra and I did witness them attacking a chicken for pecking them!

Also watch out for floating goats! Kassandra and I were quite shocked when we witnessed goats floating and dropping from the sky because they did not understand how to swim in the water near a romantic beach!

Hunting

There are legendary animals in Ancient Greece you can hunt to satisfy a goddess and woo a priestess! These hunts are very difficult, but rewarding if you do enjoy a good hunt! The animals are massive and can deal a lot of damage if you are not careful!

There is also a hunt for an underground cult attempting to ruin Ancient Greece! Kassandra and I greatly enjoyed those and destroyed the cult!

The cult members are hidden and take time to uncover. Their battles can be intense unless the cultists anger the Spartans and the Spartans do all the work for you which made two cult bosses very easy!

Patriotism

You can also help the Spartans or Athenians win Ancient Greece! Take part in battles and show your strength as a warrior! The soldiers will greatly appreciate any help you can give!

Sailing

Does fighting or hunting not appeal to you? Don’t worry there’s plenty of sailing you can do! Gather a crew, upgrade your ship, and sail to explore all of Ancient Greece and it’s islands!

You can customize your ship however you would like! Kassandra and I have a Siren ship with the Daughters of Artemis crew so we have a ship full of bad ass women! We considers ourselves to be the sirens of Ancient Greece!

Battleship

If you enjoy this board game, you’ll definitely enjoy taking down evil ships in Ancient Greece! If someone comes after you or you meet pirates, you can sink their ships and board the sinking ships to get loot! Just make sure that you don’t get your ship sunk!

Olympics

Compete in the original Olympics! Fight your way to the top and make Sparta proud! Winning requires skills as Kassandra proved by winning the Olympics and beating men three times her size!

Arena

Olympics not good for you? Well, prove yourself in the arena! Fight your way through several stages and prove that you are the strongest warrior! Fight through several stages of warriors until you reach the boss of each stage! Fight through all the bosses and prove yourself to be the Hero of the Arena!

See Ancient Greece in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey! It is the perfect getaway during these colder months and you might have a big adventure filled with action and romance!

Questions

Name a heroine you like but whom you feel is always overshadowed by the male characters in the story

Cindy from Final Fantasy XV. She is so cool and I love how intelligent she was with cars! I wanted to know more about her as a character, but most of the time is centered on Prompto, Noctis, Ignis, and Gladiolus.

For that matter, name a heroine whom you feel is always overshadowed by the other female characters in the story

Sweet Pea from the film, Sucker Punch. The attention is mainly put on Babydoll, but Sweet Pea was level headed and tried to keep all of the girls safe. She was also caring and looked after all of the girls especially her sister, Rocket.

Name a character who had potential but was greatly underutilized in her story

Lunafreya from Final Fantasy XV. She barely got any screen time and I wanted to see more of what she could do.  She was also powerful because she was able to heal others, summon the Leviathan, and she also gives Noctis the power to fight the Leviathan! I would have loved to play as her or see what else she could do with her magic!

Name a female character who you either find better in her book than her movie, find better in her movie than her book, or whose portrayals you find equal

Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. I found both portrayals of her to be perfect! She was the first character I could relate to as a child since we both loved reading. I admired her courage in the books and films and loved how Emma Watson portrayed her character!

Name a character who you want more backstory on

Harley Quinn from Batman: Arkham City. I wanted to know more about her as a character because she seems so interesting! The story focuses on the Joker so she is mainly just shown with him. She seems intelligent and funny and I would like to know more about her.

Name a character with traits you feel are sadly overlooked by everyone

Senua from Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. Senua is so strong. She’s brave for trying to save her significant other. She is also a really strong and capable fighter when you have to fight against her demons. She is also brave for being herself and fighting her illness despite having no support from her community except for her husband.

Name a morally grey character. (Villain or anti hero!)

Poison Ivy from Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Basically she loves plants so much that she wants to take care of them. She also despises people because they are hurting the environment. I love how caring she is for her plants and that she is an intelligent scientist. She’s also a fun character because she is confident and a powerful enemy when she uses her plants.

A character you’re stunned isn’t more famous

Babydoll from the film, Sucker Punch. This film really needs more attention! I love the story of Babydoll trying to escape from an asylum she was put in by her abusive father. Babydoll is cunning and all she wants is freedom after being stuck in abuse. I highly recommend you watch this film if you have not already because it is a really interesting film that makes you really think about what you have watched after you finish it.

A character from a piece of fiction you’re amazed isn’t more famous

Utena from Revolutionary Girl Utena. I just started reading the manga before I start the anime. I am putting her on this list because Utena is a really interesting character. She wears suits because she does not like dresses and I am currently at the part where she is fiercely defending another student from an organization. I’ve barely begun the story, but I am interested in learning more about Utena and I wanted everyone who reads my blog to know about her too!

Google Play Mobile Games to Try

pexels-photo-887751.jpeg

I mostly talk about console and PC video games on here, but I also wanted to do a post on mobile games that are fun to play! I just recently found two new games so I decided to write a post on all the cell phone games I play! All the games on this list are free!

Another Eden

Another Eden is a mobile RPG . It resembles an old school RPG with 2D animation and beautifully designed backgrounds. I love the music in this game!

This game is one of the newest ones I have, but I am interested in the story. So far all I know is that two children were adopted by an old mayor and now they live in a quiet town and a twist occurs during the prologue that involves time travel.

I recommend this game because I love the art style and music and it looks like it will be a fun RPG on the go!

Bang Dream Girls Band Party

This is the other new game I just got. It caught my attention because it was recommended to me by Google Play and it was featuring Persona songs! The Persona campaign has ended, but it was a lot of fun!

This is a rhythm game featuring covers of original and anime songs! I love the song selection! I also love that it features a story that you can watch which unlocks more songs. It also has loading screen comics which you can read.

If you like rhythm games or enjoy anime songs, this game will be perfect for you!

Shin Megami Tensei Dx2 Liberation

I tried this game out because I am slowly getting into the Persona series after loving Persona 5! This is another RPG which consists of a story told mainly through dialogue followed by battles!

I enjoy that the demons are 3D and that there is a talk system which allows you to get more demons!

I played it recently when there was a Bayonetta collaboration going on and now Bayonetta is in my party which is so exciting!

I would recommend this game if you like Persona or the Shin Megami Tensei series!

Epic Seven

Oh look another RPG, can you tell I really love RPGS! This one is done in an anime style with gorgeous animation! The cutscenes are fully voiced and have detailed drawings. The fighting style consists of picking different skills which all have fantastic animations!

The story is interesting so far. I have not played too far, but currently I have unlocked the guardian mechanic which allows you to use a powerful ally that helps defeat strong enemies!

I recommend this game if you love RPGS or anime!

Harry Potter

I got this game as soon as it released because I grew up with Harry Potter! I picked Ravenclaw because Pottermore said that was my official house! The game does have an energy component to it so it cannot be played constantly unless you purchase energy which can make the game slow, but I do not spend hours playing mobile games so I do not mind waiting for the energy mechanic to refill.

Playing the game again to review it, I still love it! I just love being  part of the Harry Potter universe and I am also interested in my character’s back story! The driving force behind the plot of this game is that you have an infamous sibling and you want to find out what happened to him.

I recommend this game to Harry Potter fans! I would say give it a try if you like fantasy, but it is more for fans of Harry Potter so references might be confusing to those who do not know the books or films.

Honkai Impact 3rd

This is a fantastic game, it looks like a high quality video game! This is an action game consisting of female fighters! It’s similar to a magic girl game although it’s more technology then magic!

The fighting in the game is fast and reminds me of Bayonetta. I would recommend this game if you’re a fan of games like Bayonetta or action games.

Kingdom Hearts Union Cross

Another surprise to everyone, I’m talking about Kingdom Hearts again! I love this game because I can play Kingdom Hearts on the go! I also love the cartoony art style!

This game is a fun because you get to go to various Disney Worlds and unlock keyblades as you explore the worlds! It is also fun because it has a Colosseum in it and special events. The last special event I did allowed me to get a Moogle keyblade!

I would recommend this game if you like Kingdom Hearts or want to give the series a try!

Pokemon Go

This game is simple but fun! You can walk around and collect Pokemon. It encourages you to go out and exercise or just something fun to do while you are walking!

I love collecting Pokemon and seeing what Pokemon are around me! I also love that Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu transfers my Pokemon from Pokemon Go into the game!

I would recommend this game if you are a fan of Pokemon!

What games do you love playing on your phones?
